Do you want to start a blog but you are not really sure where you can go to do so. If you are a newbie at blogging, I recommend that you start off with a Blogger blog from Google. Why? Because it is very user friendly, requires absolutely no technical skills at all and you can have your blog set up and ready to post content on in less than 30 minutes.
How do I get started?
First you will need to do a Google search for the word Blogger.com. Once you have located the site, you will simply create a new account. It is free and only takes a minute or two. After this step has been completed you will pick out a name for your blog and start designing it to match the look and feel of what closely represents your tastes and preference.
Select your Theme
Blogger has a few themes for you to choose from and they are all free. Remember that whatever theme you use can simply be changed with the click of a mouse if you want a different look or a more updated feel to your blog. You can preview each theme before you save it to your blog to ensure that you are comfortable with your selection. For advanced Blogger users: If you have been using Blogger for quite some time and would like a customized theme, you can download your template in the form of a zip file to your computer and upload it on Blogger. Before you complete this step, make sure that you backup your blog. There is a button on Blogger that you can click to either export, import, delete or resort your template that is located on the left hand menu side when you click settings. After you have imported your zip file to Blogger, make sure that you publish it to reflect the changes.
Setting up your Blogger Blog
Once your blogger blog has a theme the next thing you will want to do is to go into your settings dashboard in Blogger to add a Title for your blog, a description, a blog address as well as your privacy settings. Make sure that you enable your blog to be visible to the search engines for SEO (search engine optimization) purposes. This important step will help your blog to show up in the results online when someone searches for content and information related to your blog’s topics.
Laying out your Blog
One crucial part of setting up your blog is to configure the layout of your blog which basically means where you want your header, blog posts, ads and other content to be located on your blog. It is as easy as knowing how to drop and drag to move around these features. Adding pages to your blog also helps the layout of your blog to have the look and feel more of a website than a blog. You can always add more pages to your blog as needed.
You want to make your blog as user-friendly as possible by adding some of the gadgets that Blogger already has built into your blog to make it interactive and inviting for your blog visitors. If you are not on any social media profiles yet, now would be the time to do so because you can incorporate your social media profiles on your blog so that your fans can follow you on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Google + and elsewhere.
How to Post on your Blog
After you have your blog set up, you are now ready to post amazing content on your blog. The way that you do this is by simply clicking the button to create a new post. You will come up with a eye-catching title and content to accompany that subject. Don’t forget to tag your posts before you publish them so that your content will be found online. You will do this step every single time you create a new post.
